The AMA ACT sponsors a student prize for leadership. The prize of
$500 is awarded annually at an end of year function of the students of
the Canberra Clinical School.

This new award was presented for the first time in 2003. The awardee was Dr Tom Faunce for his regular "Ethics from the Journals" columns in "Canberra Doctor".

Dr Jo-Anne Benson was awarded the prize in 2004 for ongoing commitment to "Canberra Doctor" as a member of the editorial committee and contributor.

This award is made annually to a person (not necessarily a doctor) who has in the opinion of the President made an outstanding contribution to the AMA and the profession in the ACT .
