Doctors-in-Training

The ACT AMA recognises the needs of the doctor in training workforce and to this end, has a dedicated position on the ACT AMA Branch Council for a representative of a doctor in training.  This position is currently vacant and interested doctors in training should contact the ACT AMA executive officer for further information.

The ACT AMA welcomes a representative from the ACT to the Federal AMA's Council of doctors in training (AMACDT) and interested doctors should contact the ACT AMA executive officer for further information.  Participation in this Council may also provide an opportunity to attend the AMA National Conference which is held annually in May each year.  The 2007 National Conference is to be held in Melbourne.  The AMACDT provides an opportunity to meet with peers from across the nation and to discussed matters of mutual concern.

Doctors in training are also represented on the AMAs Federal Council, the peak body for the medical profession in Australia.

Position statements affecting doctors in training are available via the link to the Federal AMA's website.

The ACT AMA encourages all doctors in training to have a GP and will facilitate this if required.  The ACT AMA has a list of GPs prepared to care for junior colleagues and should a doctor in training require a colleague to discuss personal or professional difficulties, the Doctors Health Advisory Service is available 24/7 - 0407 265 414.

The ACT AMA's President is available to meet with doctors in training over Friday lunch time pizza and the AMA has, and will continue to provide, interesting speakers for junior doctors on matters of interest or concern.

The AMA is the voice of the profession - and encourages all doctors in training to be involved in the future of their profession and professional organisation.
